Bergamo city and upper town
Bergamo is located right in the heart of Lombardy, less than an hour from Milan and Brescia, and is a city rich in monuments and beauty. Its historic center is divided into the upper and lower towns , the former more Venetian and the latter more Lombard. Bergamo Alta, in fact, resembles an intact medieval city, dominated by the Venetian Republic. Bergamo Bassa, on the other hand, is more "Lombardy," with ancient cafes, museums, and shops. It is not far from the beautiful Lakes Iseo and Garda .
Bergamo is nestled in a natural setting of rare beauty that deserves to be visited. Its surroundings are home to fascinating spas such as San Pellegrino , the beautiful mountains of the Orobie Alps , Franciacorta , and the villages on the Adda River .
